Michelle Greer Galloway, Of Counsel, Cooley, returns to discuss recent cases in the Courts, USPTO, and state disciplinary bodies regarding ethics and professional responsibility including: duty of loyalty (conflicts and disqualification); duty of candor; confidential information in IP cases; communication with clients; responsibilities of supervising and supervised attorneys; and privilege.

Michelle has been an associate, partner and is currently Of Counsel to the Cooley Litigation department and its IP group. Her practice focuses on patent litigation and she also advises clients on the legal, strategic and technical issues of information governance, including electronically stored information. Ms. Galloway also advises clients in the area of risk management, compliance, and ethics. She currently serves as Chair of the ABA Intellectual Property Section, Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee and Chaired the ABA Task Force regarding USPTO proposed disciplinary rule changes. In 2013, she was awarded the ABA IPL Recognition of Outstanding Leadership Contribution. In addition to her practice, she is a lecturer at Stanford Law School and Santa Clara School of Law teaching courses in patent litigation, and 21st century lawyering skills, and pretrial litigation.
