It seems to many in the IP community that patents have been under serious attack from courts and Congress, while the AIA has made it safer to hold innovations as a trade secret. But is best mode really dead? And aren’t patents still the most valuable form of IP? Companies certainly should be re-examining the patenting/secrecy question, but what factors should they consider? How do these questions relate to their competitive strategy? Please join us for a lively presentation and discussion of these issues, led by Jim Pooley, former manager of the PCT and author of the new book Secrets: Managing Information Assets in the Age of Cyberespionage, and Chris Eide, patent prosecution and strategy partner from Morrison & Foerster.
