Inventor of the Year Presentation - SVIPLA is pleased to announce its 2019 Inventor of the Year Bernard Mont-Reynaud, Principal Scientist at SoundHound, Inc.  SoundHound, has technology in music recognition, DSP, speech recognition, natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Bernard is a co-inventor on at least 22 granted patents and about that many more pending applications.  In his ten years at SoundHound, Bernard has been behind a lot of the technologies that helped propel SoundHound from a startup to a Silicon Valley unicorn.  After he was graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, France, Bernard did research at INRIA, then at Stanford University he obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science.  He taught computer science at UC Berkeley, until he joined the Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics researching music analysis. The analysis, visualization and perception of music and audio have been major themes of his work over the years, along with image processing, real-time systems and advanced UI design.  Moving into private industry, he has worked at Lucasfilm, TDW, Xerox PARC, Studer Editech FXPAL, Sony, Audience, and Cadence.

Ethics CLE Credit Program: “Ethics in IP Litigation, IPR Proceedings, and Patent Prosecution”
The presentation will survey recent ethics opinions and will apply ethical duties to different stages throughout the IP litigation lifecycle, IPR proceedings, and patent prosecution. Importantly, the presentation will provide coveted CLE Ethics Credit.

Speaker: Sarah Moore, IP Litigator, Cooley LLP
Sarah's practice focuses on patent, trade secret, and copyright litigation. Her practice has spanned an array of technologies in the areas of social networking, data center and server design, ITSM, gaming, smart phones, vehicle remote start technologies, and military technology. Sarah is a Santa Clara University School of Law graduate with an undergraduate degree in philosophy and political science from Northwestern University. She has taken graduate-level professional ethics courses, worked for ethics organizations, and experienced in delivering ethics presentations.
